Sharp has announced that it has improved LCD technology enough to deliver sharper and faster moving images on mobile devices. These new panels feature response speeds that are three times faster than current panels as well as higher contrast ratios. Manufacture of these new panels is expected to cost about 30 percent more than that of the current panels.
The new panels are meant as an alternative to the more expensive OLED display technology.
Sharp is planning to start sample shipments by the end of the year.
