Amp’d declares bankruptcy

Amp'd Mobile

Amp’d Mobile declared bankruptcy yesterday. The mobile virtual network operator offers a variety of entertainment content (including games, music and sports) but only managed to attract 200,000 customers to date. Interestingly, As a result of our rapid growth, our back-end infrastructure was unable to keep up with customer demand. We are taking this step as a necessary and responsible action to sustain and strengthen our momentum in the market place. Just what kind of infrastructure do they have in place?

Service will continue for now but it remains to be seen how Amp’d Mobile will fare in in the long run.

It’s not clear yet what this could mean for Amp’d in Canada where they have a partnership with Telus.
