Apple to open its iTunes DRM?

Apple

If Tech.co.uk is right, we could see Apple license its Fairplay DRM scheme to its Made For iPod partners. This would mark the first time that Apple would let media bought on the iTunes Store to be played on devices other than those made by Apple or the iTunes software. Accessories like iPod docks could also display information (song titles, album covers, etc) that is stored in the protected files.

Apple’s announcement, along with another announcing that the streaming of protected content via USB will also be allowed, is expected as early as later this week.
