HTC to be affected by Qualcomm chipset shortage?

HTC could see its first quarter 2008 revenues drop as much as 38.5 percent from the previous quarter due to a shortage of Qualcomm chipset solutions. Revenues could drop from a projected NT$39 billion down to NT$24 billion should HTC receive only 70 percent of the CDMA and WCDMA solutions it ordered from Qualcomm. The shortage would affect HTC’s shipments of CDMA handsets to North America and WCDMA handsets to Europe.

The shortage could aslo affect Nokia, through its OEMs Foxconn International Holdings (FIH) and Chi Mei Communication Systems (CMCS).
