I just posted about the upcoming BH100 dual format Blu-ray and HD DVD player from LG today and now comes word that we may never see it after all (hopefully a fate that the Apple iPhone can avoid). The problem is that while it can play HD DD discs without problems, it lacks support for iHD (interactive High Definition), making interactive menus and special features such as picture-in-picture and bookmarks unavailable.
Without iHD support, the player will not receive certification from the DVD forum, something that is necessary to call it a HD DVD player.
If that’s not enough bad news, the DVD Forum could also take legal action against LG for its use of the HD DVD logo on the BH100.
