Rumours of the Dell Axim demise have been gaining strength for the last year or so. Today, Mobility Site noticed that Dell had pulled the last Axims from its web site. The only handhelds you will find on the Dell site are by Palm (and in Canada an Asus A636N).
Dell launched its Axim handhelds back in 2002 with the X5. The last Axim introduced was the Axim X51v which featured a VGA screen and a 624MHz processor.
While there are rumours that Dell is considering a Smartphone device, it is more likely that it is focused on its core businesses given the recent troubles it has run into.
Update: Dell spokeswoman Anne Camden has confirmed by email that “The Axim X51 family is no longer being offered, and we have no plans for a follow-on product at this time.”
