Acer to own 50 percent of netbook market in 2009?

Acer is looking to sell one of every two netbooks in 2009, according to Gianfranco Lanci, Acer’s president. Acer expects to ship to up 15 million units, giving it between a marketshare between 40 and 50 percent should its predictions that the global netbook market will grow to between 30 and 35 million units in 2009.

When the company announced its Q3 results, Acer revealed that it would likely exceed its goal of shipping up to 6 million Aspire one netbooks in 2008. It shipped some 2.4 million units in Q3 alone.
