New details have been released by Taiwan-based EliteGroup Computer Systems (ECS) about its upcoming ECS G10IL. Chosen as a winner for producing a Best Pre-Commercial Mobile Broadband Notebook, the G10IL, an innovative design selected for its feature rich package, close match to consumer needs at an affordable price and a compact and light form factor.

Meant to compete against the ASUS Eee, it will come in a variety of configurations. Powered by the new Intel Atom platform, it will feature tri-band HSDPA and HSUPA, three USB 2.0 ports, Ethernet and modem jacks, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, a 4-in-1 card reader and an integrated 1.3MP camera. It will support up to 2GB RAM although it will likely ship with less. Options include the choice of an 8.9 or 10.2-inch display (resolution not provided), SSD or hard drive configurations and a choice of Windows XP or Linux.

Pricing has not been disclosed but it could start shipping as early as this April.
