DigiTimes is reporting that both Asustek Computer and Gigabyte Communications will start using the Qualcomm MSM7201 3.5 single-chip handset solution later this year.
Both LG Electronics and HTC already use the Qualcomm MSM7201 chip. For example, both the HTC Touch Diamond and HTC Touch Pro use it.
Asustek is switching from solutions by Marvell Technology and Ericsson while Gigabyte has been using a Marvell processor with the Qualcomm MSM6280 chipset.
Both companies plan to start using the MSM7201 single-chip by year end.
