Microsoft cancels 2008 Mobile and Embedded Developers Conference

Microsoft has canceled the 2008 Mobile and Embedded Developers Conference (MEDC). The cancellation was announced in an email sent by Microsoft to MEDC 2007 attendees. With mobile applications becoming increasingly mainstream, Microsoft decided to refocus its efforts on “embedded industry conferences and larger Microsoft events.” The MEDC focused on technologies and applications such as Windows Mobile, Windows CE, Windows XP Embedded and others.

Microsoft has promised that Windows Embedded tracks will be available at both the Embedded Systems Conference and Tech-Ed. The latter will also feature Windows Mobile content.
