Motorola may be considering leaving the handset business. The suggestion comes from Richard Windsor, an analyst with Nomura International, after Motorola saw its marketshare drop about 38 percent in the last year. He suggested that Chinese vendors could also be looking at buying the company but that they would face the same challenge of then turning the company around.
If it does so, Motorola would focus on enterprise and government sales.
It’s not clear how quickly Motorola would make this move.
