Price drop coming soon to iPod touch and iPhone?

Apple

9to5Mac is predicting that Apple will soon reduce the price on its iPod and iPhone lines. The price drops could come as early as the rumoured end of February Apple event or as late as mid-April.

First up, the iPhone and iPod touch are to see USD$100 price drops. The 8GB iPod touch will be phased out at the same time.

The rest of the iPod family could also see some price drops and could also see some new higher capacity models.

Much of the price drops (should they be confirmed) can be traced back to the continually falling prices in flash storage. On the other hand, Apple may decide to wait a bit before announcing price drops on its newer iPhone and iPod touch models to prevent the angry outcry that followed when Apple first reduced the price of the iPhone some three months after it was first released.
