Acer to delay smartphone release in U.S. to 2010?

Acer M900

Gearlog is reporting that Acer will not release any of its new mobile phones in the U.S. until 2010. The Tempo family had been scheduled for a late 2009 U.S. release. Confirmation of the postponement apparently came from Acer’s Press Relations.

The delay is being attributed to the usual carrier-related traumas in the US. No specifics have been disclosed.

There may be some hope though. WMExperts.com indicate that Acer have told them know that there is still a chance that at least one smartphone could launch in the U.S. in Q4 2009.

Acer will presumably continue with the launch its new smartphones by the end of the year in other markets with a focus on on Western Europe and Russia.
