The Apple App Store may be less than a year old but it is already getting ready to mark a major milestone: Its one billionth download. To celebrate the event, Apple is counting down with a contest.
As of today, nearly one billion apps have been downloaded around the globe. So we just want to say thanks – a billion. Download an app and you’ll automatically get the chance to win a $10,000 iTunes Gift Card, an iPod touch, a Time Capsule, and a MacBook Pro.
To participate, all you have to do is download an application between now and the time that the billionth app is downloaded. You can also enter the contest without having to download anything by filling out an entry form. In either case, you are limited to 25 entries per day.
As of tonight, the counter is at just over 931.5 million applications downloaded.
