AT&T to launch Garmin nüvifone G60 on October 4th

ASUS-Garmin nüvifone G60

The ASUS-Garmin nüvifone G60, which we first heard about back in February 2008, is about to hit North American shores. It will be available exclusively from AT&T starting on October 4th.

The Garmin-Asus nüvifone G60 is powered by a Linux operating system. It comes with quad-band (850/900/1800/1900MHz) GSM/GPRS/EDGE and tri-band (850/1900/2100MHz) HSDPA connectivity, a 3.55-inch WQVGA (272 by 480 pixels) touchscreen display, 128MB RAM and 4GB flash memory, built-in GPS, 802.11 b/g Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.0 (with A2DP), built-in accelerometer, a 3MP camera with auto-focus and geo-tagging, a microSDHC card slot (supporting cards up to 16GB), and a 1100mAh battery. It measures 112 by 58.1 by 14.6 millimeters and weighs 137 grams (with battery).

AT&T will offer the Garmin nüvifone G60 for US$299 with a two year service agreement after US$100 mail-in-rebate.

Is the fact that the nüvifone G60 will be the only phone ever produced to use Garmin’s own custom Linux operating system enough for you to get one? Or is this a case of just way too late?
