Canadian Industry Minister reviewing Globalive CRTC ruling

Canadian Industry Minister Tony Clement is reviewing the CRTC’s ruling that Globalive did not meet Canadian ownership requirements. The decision stopped Globalive’s expected November launch of its WIND Mobile brand in Toronto and Calgary.

The Globe reports that Clement has sent a letter to other members of the industry (presumably including Rogers Wireless, TELUS Mobility and Bell Mobility) asking for “further comments with respect to the matter, over and above what you have already submitted.” Industry Canada has set a deadline of November 18th for feedback.

Clement may be looking to determine whether the matter should go to cabinet should Globalive ask for a cabinet review.

Meanwhile, Globalive has yet to request a cabinet review and is still “continuing to review the decision and consider all of our options.” Could one of those options include Videotron?
