CRTC to speed up Globalive ownership review

Globalive

Globalive’s wireless launch could be back on track for a Q4 2009 date after the CRTC announced today that it would take one month to complete its review of the company’s ownership structure. Only yesterday, it had announced that its decision would follow 120 days after public hearings scheduled for September 23rd and 24th.

The revised schedule now means that Globalive’s plans for launches in Calgary, Edmonton, Ottawa, Toronto and Vancouver should be back on track.

“It absolutely makes it a lot more reasonable because now we can be through the process, ideally, without even affecting our launch,” Mr. Lacavera said from Toronto.

It will be interesting to see what the outcome of CRTC’s review will be given that Industry Canada granted Globalive Wireless an operating license back in March.
