For many of us, one of the first questions (after ‘How do I get my hands on it?’) after seeing the Palm Pre was whether Palm would also release a GSM version of it. In an interview with Pocket-lint.co.uk, Paul Ghent, vice president of sales for Palm Europe, confirmed that such a device was on the way.
Palm is working on a GSM/UMTS-based Pre for release in the second half of 2009 in the UK and other selected European countries. We can expect more specific information about it at the Mobile World Congress in February.
There is no word yet on a GSM/UMTS version for North America though. Part of the answer probably depends on just how long Sprint will be the official launch partner.
