It appears that HTC is finally going to do away with its combined mini-USB and headphone jack in most future devices. The just unveiled HTC Hero already sports a 3.5mm headphone jack and more are on their way. In response to a query from MobileCrunch.com, HTC said,
“The vast majority of devices we launch after Hero will have a 3.5mm jack. Devices that we have already announced but that still come out after Hero will not necessarily be a part of this change.”
People will finally be able to use the headphones that they want to use without having to resort to adapters.
I wonder how much the decision is due to customer feedback and how much is due to Windows Mobile 7 specifications requiring a 3.5mm audio jack?
