Motorola makes cuts to its Windows Mobile division

News that Motorola laid off 77 employees at its Plantation facility in Florida is likely to reignite rumours that Motorola is exiting the Windows Mobile market. The South Florida Business Journal also reports that Motorola will no longer do any Windows Mobile development at the facility.

Rumours that Motorola was going to focus on Google Android for its future smartphones at the expense of Windows Mobile first surfaced earlier this month. They were refuted by Motorola only days later.

Motorola announced about 4,000 layoffs earlier this month after reporting a US$397 million loss in its last quarter.
