October 23 street date for Windows 7?

Microsoft

This is not quite mobile gadget related but it looks like Windows 7, Vista’s successor, is due to be released by Microsoft on October 23rd. The revelation does not come from Microsoft but from Acer UK marketing director Bobby Watkins. It was made while talking about the upcoming Acer Z5600 all-in-one PC which will come with Windows 7.

There will also be a 30 day upgrade window where customers will get a free upgrade to Windows 7 if they purchase a system preloaded with Vista.

For its part, Microsoft has not provided any specific release date for its next operating system except to suggest that it would be around January 2010, about three years after the release of Vista.
