It appears that the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1 is in line to get a Windows Mobile 6.5 upgrade. The news comes via a post on the xda-developer forums:

According to the post, the upgrade obtained by the developer comes with an older version of Windows Mobile 6.5, and new drivers but there will not be any new features (aside from what you get in Windows Mobile 6.5. The note about it being an older version of Windows Mobile casts some doubt on this rumour. Unless this is a beta upgrade…
We’ll have to see how this rumour turns out. If it turns out to be nothing, will you upgrade your XPERIA X1 to the just announced XPERIA X2 (with Windows Mobile 6.5)?
