T-Mobile G1 Android update to feature voice searches (Updated)

Google Android

A new Android update is about to start making its way to T-Mobile G1 users. One new feature in the update will let users search and surf using their voice.

You can start searching by voice with just the touch of a button. On the home screen search widget, look for the microphone button right next to the search box and the search button. Press that button, wait for the “Speak now” prompt, and then say your query. You’ll soon see search results formatted for the Android browser.

Voice searches will also be available in the Android browser.

It’s not clear yet what other features will be included in this upcoming Android update.

Update: There is in fact additional information on T-Mobile firmware version 1.1 / RC33. Aside from Google’s voice search, it will include a new “Check for Upgrades” feature and the ability to save pictures received as MMS. It will also include a number of fixes.
