Google Android Marketplace

Google’s tweet says it all: “One hundred thousand apps in Android Market.” It was only six months ago that it topped 50,000 applications and two years that it launched along with the first Android device, the T-Mobile G1.

Despite reaching this milestone, the Android Market is still dwarfed by the Apple App Store which topped 300,000 applications last week, according to a statemement made last week by Steve Jobs during Apple’s latest earnings call.

Meanwhile, WMPowerUser.com reports that the just launched Windows Phone 7 Marketplace has now topped 1,000 applications. At this rate, it could top 2,000 applications by the time Windows Phone 7 devices debut in North America on November 8th.
