Crazy rumour of the day: Nokia working on a Windows Mobile phone?

To close off today, here is a rumour that I recommend taking with far more than a pinch of salt. A Times Online report looking at a number of British technology companies is suggesting that Nokia could be working on a Windows Mobile phone:

Wolfson suffered a blow in 2008 after it lost a contract to supply components for the Apple iPod. However, some of the pain was lessened last year after it was selected by a leading mobile phone manufacturer – believed to be Nokia – to provide some of the technology for its new Windows Mobile handset.

While Wolfson may well be providing components for an upcoming Windows Mobile phone, the connection to Nokia is tenuous at best. Is someone perhaps reading a bit too much into the mobile software partnership between Microsoft and Nokia?
