MWC 2010: HTC unveils HTC HD mini

If you like the HTC HD2 but find it a bit too large for your pocket, the new HTC HD mini may just be the mobile phone you have been waiting for.

“The demand for the HTC HD2 has exceeded our expectations, and the HTC HD mini fulfils a desire from some customers to bring the capabilities and experience of the HTC HD2 to a more compact design,” said Peter Chou, chief executive officer, HTC Corporation. “The integration of HTC Sense and Windows Phone on HD mini and HD2 gives customers an additional choice for an advanced Windows mobile phone that is sleek, well crafted and easy to use.”

HTC HD Mini specifications:

  • Operating system: Windows Mobile 6.5.3 Professional with HTC Sense user interface
  • Connectivity: Quad-band (850/900/1800/1900MHz) GSM/GPRS/EDGE and dual-band (900/2100MHz) HSPA/WCDMA
  • Other connectivity: GPS/A-GPS, 802.11b/g Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.1+EDR
  • Display: 3.2 inch HVGA capacitive touchscreen
  • Memory: 384MB RAM and 512MB ROM
  • Storage: microSD cards (up to 32GB)
  • Camera: 5MP with auto-focus
  • Connectors: 3.5mm headphone jack, micro-USB
  • Battery: 1,200mAh
  • Other: FM radio

The HTC HD mini measures 103.8 by 57.7 by 11.7mm and weighs 110 grams with battery. In comparison, the HTC HD2 measures 120.5 by 67 by 11mm and weighs 157 grams.

The HTC HD mini will be available in major European and Asian markets beginning in April. There is no word on North American availability.
