An older rumour had suggested that RIM would eventually port its QNX operating system powering the upcoming PlayBook to its BlackBerry devices. RIM co-CEO Mike Lazaridis essentially confirmed these rumours earlier this week at the D: Dive Into Mobile conference.
“When we have multi-core processors across the board, they’ll all be running the Playbook platform,” Lazaridis said.
Lazaridis shed no light on when the BlackBerry transition to the QNX OS would start. Could it be as early as 2011? Don’t rule it out if the PlayBook and its OS become a hit…
