Is Lenovo working on a Windows Phone device?

Lenovo today does not offer any Windows Phone devices. That could change if pictures that have popped up on the winphonexap.com forums are real. They show a Lenovo LePhone S2, an Android phone, running Windows Phone.

None of the pictures show the Windows Phone buttons (Back, Start and Search). Could this be an early prototype to assess if the S2 hardware can handle Windows Phone 7.5? With a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8255, a capacitive display with a resolution of 480 by 800 pixels, 512MB RAM, and an 8MP camera, it should have no trouble.

Should Lenovo truly be considering launching Windows Phone devices, it is likely that they will be intended for the Chinese market like its other phones. It remains to be seen if Lenovo would use such a device to expand into other markets.
