Is the mysterious HTC Shooter the next Sprint EVO smartphone?

It looks like an unannounced HTC smartphone left a few marks on the Internet during some benchmark testing. The GLBenchmark tool, which tracks openGL benchmark results, shows that a device identified as the HTC Shooter (model PG86100) was recently tested. As a result, a few details have emerged.

The HTC Shooter (likely a codename) appears headed to Sprint. It will be powered by Android 2.3.2 and will feature a qHD (960 by 540) display. The presence of an Adreno 220 GPU also suggests that it could use a dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor (perhaps a 1.2GHz dual-core MSM8660).

Speculation suggests that the Shooter could be the replacement for the HTC EVO 4G (perhaps to be introduced as the HTC EVO 3D). With CTIA just around the corner, we may not have to wait long to find out.
