LTE subscriptions to grow 3400% by 2015

As more carriers deploy their LTE networks, In-Stat, a research firm, expects that LTE subscriptions will explode over the next few years. It predicts that they will grow by 3,400% between now and 2015.

“Although there are regional variations in the adoption of cellular services, due in part to current available technology, LTE will clearly be the 4G service of choice moving forward,” says Chris Kissel, Analyst.

At the same time, 3G subscriptions are expected to remain dominant especially as 2G service subscriptions will begin to drop after peaking in 2012.

While the numbers sound impressive, keep in mind that most carriers are still ramping up their LTE deployments so initial subscriber numbers are still low, making it easy to achieve high growth numbers as more and more markets come online.
