More evidence of ASUS Transformer Prime delays?

ASUS Eee Pad Transformer PrimeMore evidence has surfaced that the ASUS Transformer Prime has been delayed. It appears though that the delay could be limited to Canada. The initial reports came from Canadian online retailer NCIX. Now both Best Buy Canada and Future Shop have confirmed to MobileSyrup that pre-order customers have received emails notifying them original shipment dates will not be met. A portion of the email reads:

We’ve recently been informed by Asus that there is an unexpected delay in receiving the items, and as a result, we are unable to ship the tablet on the date originally planned. We’re sorry to be the bearer of this news; however, we will contact you as soon as we receive the shipment from Asus, and are ready to ship the product to you.

Engadget also received a tip from a source at ASUS Canada that “the WiFi range on the TF201 did not meet our quality standards” and that the tablet would not ship until “a new solution” was implemented. Things got interesting when Engadget then received word from ASUS US indicating that the Transformer Prime was still on schedule for shipment on December 19th. A similar statement was sent to The Verge a few days ago when the story first broke.

One thing seems clear: Canadians are not likely to get their Transformer Prime tablets before Christmas. Customers in the US might still be lucky (but could have to deal with some Wi-Fi issues).
