Motorola to launch two new tablets by end of the year?

Motorola MobilityThe Chinese-language Commercial Times is reporting that Motorola will launch two new tablets by the end of the year, one in November and the other in December. A 7-inch model has apparently been outsourced to Compal Electronics with a larger 10-inch model may be built in house.

Both models will be sold in Europe and the US (and hopefully Canada). Quarterly shipment volumes for the smaller tablet are expected to fall in the 250,000 to 300,000 units.

Recent rumours have indicated that Motorola is set to replace its XOOM tablet with a 10.1-inch XOOM 2 tablet and a smaller 8.2-inch XOOM 2 Media Edition tablet. Aside from a small difference in display size of the smaller model, it looks like the two tablets complement each other fairly well.

Hopefully Motorola will soon make an announcement…
