HTC appears set to test the patience of HTC Desire owners as it does not plan to release an Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) update until after the HTC Desire S has launched. An HTC representative indicated that the update would follow some two months later.
Considering that HTC has only given a general Q2 2011 release window for the HTC Desire S, It’s unlikely that we will see the update before the summer. Carriers could further delay the update to perform their own certification and customization. If that’s not enough bad news, the update will also be staggered with the Desire HD and Desire Z likely to be the first to get it.
