Nokia announces Symbian-powered Nokia E6 and X7

Nokia today unveiled two new Symbian-powered smartphones, the Nokia E6 and the Nokia X7. The first is aimed at business people while the second targets entertainment enthusiasts. The two will also be powered by the latest version of Symbian (nicknamed Anna), featuring new icons and usability enhancements such as improved text input, a faster browser and refreshed Ovi Maps.

“With these new products and more Symbian devices and user enhancements coming in the near future, we are confident we can keep existing Nokia smartphone customers engaged, as well as attract new first-time and competitor smartphone users,” said Jo Harlow, head of Nokia’s Smart Devices business.

Nokia E6 specifications:

  • Display: 4.0-inch AMOLED display (640 x 360) with Gorilla glass
  • Storage: microSD cards up to 32GB (8GB card included)
  • Rear-facing camera: 8MP with dual-LED flash and 720p HD video capture
  • Front-facing camera: None
  • Connectors: 3.5mm headphone jack
  • Battery: 1200mAh
  • Dimensions / weight: 119.7 x 62.8 x 11.9 millimeters / 146 grams

Nokia will release both the Nokia E6 and Nokia X7 in Q2 2011. Pricing information is not available yet.

Nokia also announced that Symbian Anna will be available on newly shipping Nokia N8, Nokia E7, Nokia C7 and Nokia C6-01 devices in the coming months. A software updated for previously purchased similar models will also be made available.
