Remember those rumours of a second HP webOS tablet sporting a smaller 7-inch display? The codename of the device in question was Opal. HP has now confirmed (likely accidentally) the codename suggesting that the tablet is not vaporware.
If you visit a web page set up by HP to highlight some of what it considers essential apps, you can hover over the app title (under the App Experience or Featured Apps tabs) to get a useful popup that gives you information such as the app’s price, minimum OS version, the app version and a list of compatible devices. That last item will often show ‘Palm Opal’ as one of the devices. The other codenames refer to the HP TouchPad (Topaz), the Pre 2 (Roadrunner), and Pre 3(MantaRay).
The March rumours suggested that HP could launch the smaller tablet in the Q3 timeframe.
