Samsung outlines contents of upcoming Galaxy Tab 10.1 software update

Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1When Samsung launched the Galaxy Tab 10.1 tablet, it promised that it would quickly follow up with a software update with a number of enhancements. Most details are already known but Samsung has now posted a support page on its web site that covers all that you will find in the update. Among the new features are:

  • Samsung TouchWiz User Interface: Promising superior multi-tasking and enhanced user interaction and navigation, it features a Live Panel to display real-time information, a Mini Apps tray, and more
  • Enterprise Features: Including more exhaustive EAS IT policies, on-device encryption, Sybase Afaria, Cisco / F5 VPN capability
  • Pre-loaded apps: Including Amazon Music Cloud Player and Amazon Kindle
  • Swype virtual keyboard
  • Wireless printing capabilities
  • FindMyMobile: Allowing users to find a lost device on map, remotely locking it, and wiping out personal information stored on it
  • Samsung Hubs: Including Media Hub (movies and TV shows), Social Hub (social media aggregation), Readers Hub (books, newspapers, and magazines), and Music Hub (access to 13 million songs)

Samsung has yet to provide a precise ETA for the software update, promising only that it is “coming soon.”
