Sprint will hold a special event on September 7th at which it will announce a “Strategy Update.” Few details are known about the event. It will consist of a number of presentations by senior management followed by a Q&A but the topics of these presentations were not revealed.
Sprint could announce a new 4G strategy. While it was the first US carrier to deploy 4G with WiMAX, the announcement could see the carrier switch to LTE. If so, it could do so with its WiMAX partner Clearwire which has indicated in the past that it could make the switch if sufficient funds can be obtained. It could also do so with its recently announced partnership with LightSquared.
