A report that Windows Phone already supports NFC has turned out be inaccurate. Microsoft UK product manager Will Coleman followed up his interview with a tweet that he was wrong. Microsoft also followed up with a correction:
“Microsoft would like to correct a previous statement it made around Near Field Communications. While NFC is not currently supported on Windows Phone 7.5, it is coming.”
Microsoft added that NFC-enabled Windows Phone devices are expected to ship in 2012.
With NFC also expected to be supported in Windows 8, we could see some very cool functionality between our PCs and our Windows Phone devices.
