As widely expected, Sony today announced the Xperia Tablet S, its successor to the original Sony Tablet S.
Sony has not published all the Xperia Tablet S specifications yet but here is what we know:
- Processor: Quad-core NVIDIA Tegra 3
- Operating system: Google Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich
- Cellular connectivity: None
- Other connectivity: DLNA
- Display: 9.4-inch WXGA (1280×800)
- Input: Capacitive touchscreen
- Storage: 16/32/64GB onboard and microSD cards
- Rear-facing camera: 8MP
- Front-facing camera: 1MP
- Battery: 6,000mAh
- Other: IR universal remote control
The Sony Xperia Tablet S will launch on September 7th. Its price will start at US$399 for the 16GB model and top out at US$599 for the 32GB model. There is no word yet on Canadian availability.
Update: Sony Canada has announced that the Sony Tablet S will be available starting on September 7th. It will offer the 16GB model (CA$399) and the 32GB model (CA$499) though Sony Stores, including online, and other authorized dealers. A number of accessories will also be offered, including a cover with keyboard (CA$100), a simple stand (CA$25), and a charging cradle (CA$40).
