Nokia and Carl Zeiss extend smartphone camera partnership

Nokia PureViewNokia and Carl Zeiss today announced that they have extended their exclusive partnership.For example, Nokia’s new PureView camera technology (found on the Nokia PureView 808 and coming to Windows Phone Lumia devices) which uses a 41MP camera, is more powerful than many standalone cameras.

“Carl Zeiss was a crucial partner in the creation of the first PureView experience,” said Jo Harlow, executive vice president of Nokia Smart Devices. “The benefits of our ongoing collaboration will be more PureView innovation and further advancements in smartphone imaging in the coming months and years.”

The partnership between the two companies is already seven years old and will now extend for several more years.

Smartphone cameras have become increasingly sophisticated and can help manufacturers differentiate their products from those of competitors.
