Samsung’s branding for upcoming Windows Phone 8 smartphones and Windows 8 tablets may have been revealed. The company recently registered two new brand names: Ative Tab and Ativ S, giving us a hint as to what it may have in mind.
It may use the Ativ brand much as it already uses the Galaxy name for its Android devices. The Ativ brand name would identify devices powered by Microsoft’s latest operating systems. The ‘S’ and ‘Tab’ designations would then further help distinguish smartphones from tablets.
Samsung is expected to launch a number of Windows Phone 8 smartphones, including the Odyssey and Marco, along with a number of Windows 8 tablets and PCs this fall.
