Bluetooth SIG reveals LG-V510 – Google Nexus 8 or LG G Pad 8.3 LTE?

Bluetooth SIG filing for LG-V510The Bluetooth SIG has once again revealed an upcoming device. This time, it’s the LG-V510. As is the case with such filings, little information is revealed but speculation is rampant that it could be a new Nexus tablet, perhaps the Google Nexus 8.

At the root of this conjecture is the fact that the LG G Pad 8.3 carries model number LG-V500. It is therefore possible that the LG-V510 is no more than a variant of the original model. From here, the theory jumps to the possibility that this could be a Nexus variant that could be announced alongside the Google Nexus 5. A likelier scenario at this time is that this could be the LTE version of the LG G Pad 8.3.

Rumours of a Nexus 8 first surfaced this summer. A set of concept renders kicked off the speculation but it was never backed up by any further leaks about specifications or pictures, even fuzzy ones. But, around the same time, market analyst Ming-Chi-Kuo suggested that Google and LG would collaborate on a Nexus tablet. No mention was made of the tablet’s size though. Go back further in time and you’ll find a rumour that collaborating on a Nexus 7.7 tablet. Nothing so far has come of that rumour though.

One thing is clear, rumours of the two companies working together on a tablet have surfaced enough times that it’s safe to say that they have at least talked about such a project. Whether it’s enough to suggest that an LG-built Nexus 8 is coming is quite a stretch though. Perhaps we’ll be proven wrong when Google finally unveils the Nexus 5 hopefully in the next few days. But we’ll put our money on an LTE version of the LG G Pad 8.3 until more evidence surfaces to convince us otherwise.
