LG Optimus G2 To Sport Buttons On Its Back

Details continue to emerge about LG’s next flagship device, the Optimus G2 or perhaps simply G2 if LG does drop the Optimus brand from its flagship devices. First there was the announcement by Qualcomm and LG that this flagship device would use a Snapdragon 800 processor. Now come new details courtesy of TechTastic.

Rumoured LG Optimus G2 (LG-D800) specifications:

  • Processor: 2.3GHz Quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 with Adreno 330 GPU
  • Operating system: Google Android 4.2.2 with LG Optimus UI
  • Display: 5.5-inch Full HD (1080×1920)
  • RAM: 2GB
  • Rear-facing camera: 13MP

User interface screenshots reveal that it will use software buttons, meaning that there will not be a row of buttons below the display. TechTastic‘s source describes the display as an “impressive edge-to-edge” one and the device itself as “the best device the company has ever produced.” More interesting is the claim that it will also sport some buttons on the back.

The report adds that LG’s upcoming August 7th event will see it announce its latest flagship device along with the mid-tier LG Optimus L9 II (LG-D600) with a 1.4GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor, Google Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean, a 4.7-inch HD (720×1280) display and NFC as well as the entry-level LG-D500 model with a 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 processor, Google Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean, a qHD (540×960) display, 3MP camera, Bluetooth 4.0 and NFC.

The August 7th announcement is intended to give LG a bit of ‘clear air’ ahead of the expected Samsung Galaxy Note III announcement at IFA 2013 in early September.
