Motorola releases Motorola Connect and Motorola Migrate ahead of Moto X launch

Motorola Connect

With only hours to go before Motorola today officially unveils the Moto X, the company has released two new apps to support its latest smartphone. Motorola Migrate and Motorola Connect, a Chrome extension, are now available for download.

Motorola Connect, which supports the new Verizon DROID Ultra, Maxx and Mini as well as the Moto X, allows you to see text messages and calls on your computer’s Chrome browser or your Chromebook. You can even respond to texts using your computer or see who is calling before picking up.

As for Motorola Migrate, as the name implies, the app is meant to facilitate moving content such as photos, videos, SIM contacts and other content wirelessly from your old Android phone to your new Motorola phone. The app is now available through Google Play. It requires Android 2.2 or higher.

With Motorola Connect only supporting four devices, the Moto X, DROID Ultra, DROID Maxx and DROID Mini, it appears that today’s event will be strictly about the Moto X and that there will not be any surprise hardware announcements to go with it.
