New codenames reveal new Nokia devices in the works

Nokia

Smartphone and tablet development cycles are notoriously long. In fact, it is likely that Nokia was already hard at work on a new generation of devices when Microsoft announced its plans to acquire Nokia’s Devices & Services division for US$7.2 billion. Thanks to the prolific and reliable @evleaks, we now have a list of potential codenames for these upcoming smartphones and tablets: Goldfinger, Moneypenny, Normandy, Phantom, Spinel.

There is no information to go with the codenames yet. It’s likely that some will be new Windows Phone 8 Lumia smartphones and possibly tablets but others are also likely to be Asha devices.

We’ll keep our eyes and ears open to see if these new Nokia codenames resurface in the future, hopefully with more details.
