Apple iPhone 6 4.7-inch front panel revealed in leaked image?

Rumoured Apple iPhone 6 front panel

Recent rumours have fairly consistently indicated that the Apple iPhone 6 will come with a larger 4.7-inch display. A new image posted on China’s Weibo social network gives further credence to these reports. It shows what appears to be a larger iPhone front panel held up next to an iPhone 5S. It could well be our first glimpse at the iPhone 6 4.7-inch front panel.

French site iphon.fr took a closer look at the image. With the iPhone 5S next to it, it estimates that the mysterious panel has a panel that measure 10.7 by 5.9 centimeters. Applying a little Pythagorean magic gives us a diagonal length of 12.2 centimeters. A quick conversion later and we have a 4.8-inch display. Given that this is all based on a few estimates, it certainly falls close enough to be plausible. Keep in mind as well that there have been rumours hinting at a 4.8-inch display as well so those estimates may not be wrong either.

Rumoured Apple iPhone 6 front panel

One image does not constitute proof but it certainly continues to suggest that Apple is about to unveil at least one larger iPhone.

At last word, Apple and its partners are set to begin production of the iPhone 6 in July in preparation for a Q4 launch. Apple will likely unveil its new iPhone in the September time frame, about a year after the launch of the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C, with a launch to follow in October. A larger device with a 5.5-inch display could follow later on in Q4.
