Apple said to hold iPad event on October 16

Apple Store - Ginza, Tokyo, JapanAs expected, it looks like Apple is not quite done with new product announcements this year. The last event focused on the new Apple iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus and the Apple Watch which will launch next year. Now Re/code has learned that the company will hold its next event on Thursday, October 16. On tap are new iPads along with new iMacs and OS X Yosemite.

Along with the expected hardware upgrades to its iPad family, Apple is expected to bring a new colour to the lineup. Your next iPad could be gold-coloured. Other expected additions include Touch ID, an anti-reflective screen coating and support for Apple Pay albeit without an NFC chipset.

Befitting a more low-key event, Apple’s latest unveiling will take place at the company’s own Town Hall Auditorium in Cupertino. Don’t expect U2 to make a return engagement.

Other rumours had predicted an October 21 iPad event. It now looks like we’ll be able to get our hands on new iPads a bit sooner than expected. It should make Christmas shopping just a bit easier!
