CIBC Mobile Payment app coming to Bell smartphones

CIBC Mobile Payment appCIBC and Bell today announced that the CIBC Mobile Payment app is coming soon to Bell smartphones. The app will allow Bell customers to use their smartphones to make payments on purchases under CA$100. The service is already supported by thousands of merchants across the country.

“Our clients want the opportunity to pay with their phone at their favourite retailer, and today’s announcement with Bell means that we’re putting this innovative technology into the hands of more CIBC clients,” said Todd Roberts, Senior Vice President, Payments Strategy and Innovation, CIBC. “We believe 2014 will be a pivotal year for growth in mobile payments and we continue to invest in our leadership in this important market, including building strong relationships with wireless providers to make it easy for our clients to bank where, when, and how they like.”

The CIBC Mobile Payment app will support a number of Android and BlackBerry smartphones including the Samsung Galaxy S4, Samsung Galaxy S III, Samsung Galaxy Note II, HTC One (M7), BlackBerry Q10, BlackBerry Z10 and the venerable BlackBerry Bold 9900 which is making a comeback.

The CIBC Mobile Payment app is already to both Rogers and TELUS customers. Bell customers will find it in both Google Play and BlackBerry World “in the coming weeks.” It requires an eligible CIBC credit card.
