Motorola adds “What’s Up” voice command to Touchless Control

Motorola Moto X

One of the most distinctive features of Motorola’s Moto X is its Touchless Control. Always on and listening, it allows you to interact with your phone without having to touch it. Motorola this week once again improved this app with an update that includes a new voice command. Asking the Moto X “What’s up” or “Read notifications” will now have it read out the time and the latest notifications you have received.

Motorola has also enhanced the end-of-speech detection to make it more accurate and faster to respond when you finish talking.

The latest version of Touchless Controls comes with the following additions:

  • Enhanced end-of-speech detection for improved accuracy and faster responses
  • New “What’s Up” / “Read Notifications” voice command that reads out new notifications so you never miss a thing
  • “What’s Up” / “Read Notifications” fully launched for U.S. English, Spanish, and Italian and in beta for other languages / regions.
  • Compatible only with Android 4.4 KitKat
  • Bug fixes

Touchless Controls is made possible by the Motorola X8 Mobile Computing System. It comes with two low-power cores designed to always be on and ready to respond to voice commands.

Touchless Control also works with the latest generation of DROID smartphones.
