MTS to bring HSPA+ to six new communities

It’s not every day that we cover news of HSPA+ network expansion. While most of us are either used to LTE by now or looking forward to it rolling out where we live and work, there is a part of Canada that is likely counting down the days to having the speeds that HSPA+ brings. MTS today announced that its expanding its HSPA+ network to cover Churchill and five other rural Manitoba communities this year.

“Our expanded 4G HSPA+ network will be a game-changer for MTS customers living and working in these communities,” said MTS President Kelvin Shepherd. “They’ll be able to use all the latest 4G devices and stream content just like our customers in Winnipeg.”

Along with Churchill, the following communities are scheduled to have HSPA+ later this year:

  • Ebb and Flow First Nation
  • Fisher River First Nation
  • Snow Lake
  • Bissett
  • Middlebro

In all, some 4,000 people will benefit from this latest MTS network expansion.
